Need to cut back on spending

February 7th, 2010 at 02:59 pm

I'm spending on breakfast and lunch again at work. It's so easy to slip back to old habits, and it is just sucking up my money like a vacuum.
I have to return my focus to being more prepared with my meals. I can't afford this much longer

I understand. I have the same problem. Sometimes my job gets kind of stressful and I just want to go out for lunch just so I can leave the building for awhile. So, I do occasionally go out for lunch (on payday which is every two weeks), but also decompress in other ways through meditation and making sure I get enough sleep. Ask yourself what the reasons are that you like to go out and see if there is another way to solve the problem. Please don't feel alone.

Go back to your old posts. You had a plan every day! Do it again and I will too! I baked some yummy muffins yesterday that would be good with a boiled egg for breakfast. I usually take bread since I keep a small jar of peanut butter at work. Then I have rubbermaid drink holders I put milk and iced tea for the day, then my lunch too. I have a small rectangular (well not that small, my boss made fun of it when he saw it)Coleman soft sided cooler I pack everything in. You can do it!

you can do it! i will also try and do it too; i have been slipping lately. I have started to take a muesli bar and an apple in my bag whereever i go, it seems to help a bit.

I'm with other folks--take 5 minutes and throw something in your bag. Especially with all the info lately on sodium content in processed foods. Stay healthy and wealthy!
    Good luck!

I've been having the same problem- the cafeteria really adds up, even when I choose less expensive options! Some easy take-along foods I like- peanut butter and an apple (only takes a few seconds to chop it up), a banana and a chocolate pudding cup to dip it in, Chex mix. I also keep a bag of unpopped popcorn in my purse for unexpected snack cravings (if you have a microwave at work)

Eating out is an absolute money-sucker, and it leads to some financial nightmares. I know many people who eat out almost every meal, and then complain that they have no money for something else. It's true, packing something tasty in a bag doesn't take too long, and it is financial insurance that you will keep your hard earned money in the bank! Good luck...
